The EBRD is a multilateral bank committed to the development of market-oriented economies and the promotion of private and entrepreneurial initiative in more than 30 countries from Morocco to Mongolia and from Estonia to Egypt. The Bank is owned by 66 countries from five continents, as well as the European Union and the European Investment Bank. The EBRD’s strategic plan for the countries where it invests for the period 2016-18 has three priorities: strengthening economic resilience, addressing global challenges and supporting regional integration. To date, the EBRD has invested €7.3 billion in various sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy with a focus on non-oil and gas sectors, where it is the largest institutional investor. Kazakhstan became the second largest EBRD market in 2016 with over €1.05 billion in annual investment.
